FAQ’s for Brides and Grooms

Q: What is A Moment in Time Photography’s packages or pricing?

A: To see both wedding pricing, click on the tab at the top of this web page titled “pricing page” from the drop down list under “brides and grooms.”

Q: Do you travel?

A: Yes!! We will travel just about anywhere, as long as our travel fees are covered. If you would like for us to drive, anywhere outside of Taylor County is $0.50 per mile. (This includes going there and driving back) If overnight lodging is required, our hotel will need to be covered as well. We often travel to Dallas, Lubbock, and the Midland/Odessa areas, so if you are in those regions, ask if you can get a discount on travel!

We also love to do destination weddings! If you are getting married anywhere that we would need to take a flight for, we will consider your location as a destination! Contact us for travel and package pricing, as we discount wedding packages heavily for sending Jennifer (and at least one assistant / second shooter) to shoot it!! Destination packages come with 8 hours of coverage by Jennifer and a second shooter, digital negatives of the wedding photos, and a day after session!

Q: When can I (we) see our photos after our wedding / event / session?

A: For weddings, your images will be ready within 4-6 weeks after your wedding.

Once the images are ready, Jennifer will give you a call to let you know, and we can work out a time for all decision makers to come down to our studio in downtown Abilene to preview your images and place your order for prints, canvases, and albums.

For those that live out of town, or have family out of town, we can arrange online viewing as well.

Q: How do I book with A Moment in Time Photography?

A: First, call, send a text, or send an email to check the availability of your wedding. This makes sure that we are available before we continue in the process! To reserve a wedding date, we will need a signed contract from the BRIDE and GROOM, no matter who the check comes from, as well as a 1/3 or $500 non-refundable retainer. A Moment in Time Photography accepts cash, checks, and Visa and MasterCard. The remaining balance is due 30 days before the date of the wedding. I encourage you to put down a 1/3 retainer so that a month out from your wedding you don’t have a huge balance to pay, but I will hold your date for $500. Payment schedules can also be established if needed.

Q: How many photos will I get and when?

A: Great question!! For weddings, it totally depends on the amount of coverage of the package you choose. Generally speaking, there will be anywhere from 400-1000 photos on the DVD you receive. Your DVD will be mailed to you when you have completely fulfilled your contracted products. Layman’s terms – if your wedding package comes with an album – we will mail your DVD after you have ordered your album. Products purchased on the contract must be used within one year of the wedding date. Please don’t wait a year to place your orders!! After a year, we will inform you that your time is up, and send the DVD. Once you have the DVD, that’s all folks!

Q: What is a good timeline to schedule engagement photos and bridal portraits before the wedding?

A: For engagement photos, I usually recommend as soon as possible!! You will want to document the newness and the excitement of this time in your lives, you will want to have these photos to submit to your local newspaper for your engagement announcement, you will probably even want to use these photos to order a guest book for your guests to sign at your wedding! These books highlight about 20 or so of your favorite engagement images, as well as space for the guests at your wedding to sign and leave you messages in. These books take a bit of time to design and order, so the sooner we do the engagement photos, the better!! Many also use their engagement photos to order save-the-dates, and do their wedding invitations with. (Either have Jennifer design the invitations, or include a wallet in a more traditional invitation) Moral of the story: the sooner, the better!!

For bridal portraits, we want to make sure that you have your dress ready and it has already been altered, and that all accessories have been purchased. The last available second to do bridal portraits if you want to have one on display at your wedding (most do) is one full month before the wedding. We prefer to do the bridal portraits at least 1 1/2 to 2 months out. This way, we can make sure to have the portraits done, with enough time to order a few prints to put on display at your wedding! Many brides order at least 1 16×20 to mat and frame to display on an easel at the reception of the wedding. A Moment in Time Photography has an easel that you can use upon request for this very purpose.

Q: What should I wear for a portrait session?!?

A: Whatever you would like!! Honestly, don’t stress too much about it! You want to look like YOU in your photos, so don’t go out and buy some over-the-top outfit if it doesn’t fit your style. If you have any questions, bring multiple outfits with you on the day of the shoot, and we can discuss what looks best, and what locations that particular outfit would look good with. If I could pick clothing out for you – it would NOT be solid colors with jeans only. I love outfits with texture (lace, ruffles, etc.) color, and style. I LOVE high heels. Try not to do some crazy pattern in your clothing, though, because we want your face(s) to stand out, not clothing that is too loud. Also – unless you LOVE your upper arms (and really how many people love that part of their body the best?!) then please choose a top that is not sleeveless. Depending on the pose and camera angle, even the tiniest of arms can look not-so-tiny, thus resulting in you not liking the photo, even though your expression is wonderful and the photo is amazing! If you have the arms of a supermodel – by all means, show them off!! If you are having your picture taken with more than one person (e-session, family session) try to coordinate a color scheme instead of the same exact color. For instance, if you love blues, have one person wear navy, one baby blue, one middle blue, one in a white shirt with a blue tie, etc. Or, if you want to bump it up a notch, choose complimentary colors. This works especially well for couples. Bottom line – wear what you feel comfortable in, and what you wear in real life!!
